What is Idaho Leaders?
Idaho Leaders is a nonpartisan Idaho nonprofit that develops capable people at every career stage through mentorship, practical training, professional relationships, public recognition, and opportunities to serve. Our flagship program is the Idaho Leadership Fellowship, supported by a statewide mentor network and the Idaho Leadership Awards.
Is Idaho Leaders political?
No. Idaho Leaders is nonpartisan as a matter of policy and law. We do not support or oppose candidates, coordinate with parties or campaigns, or consider political ideology in selecting participants. People of every background and viewpoint are welcome.
Who can apply to the fellowship?
Any Idahoan committed to serving the state, at any career stage \u2014 students and early-career professionals, mid-career managers and entrepreneurs, and established senior leaders. Ability to pay is not a barrier; need-based and rural scholarships are part of the design.
How are fellows selected?
Through an application, references, and an interview. We look for demonstrated commitment to Idaho, evidence of initiative and follow-through, integrity, and the capacity to benefit from and contribute to the cohort. Political affiliation and financial means are not factors.
What does the fellowship involve?
Practical statewide sessions, monthly meetings with a matched mentor, a written development plan, and a capstone project that delivers real, visible work to an Idaho organization or community \u2014 followed by lifelong membership in the alumni network.
What does it cost?
We are committed to keeping the fellowship accessible, including need-based support and travel scholarships for rural participants. Cost details will be published with the inaugural cohort announcement.
How do I become a mentor?
Express interest through the Mentor Network page. Mentors commit to roughly monthly meetings with a matched fellow for six to nine months, plus a brief orientation. We match by field, aspirations, location, and development needs.
How can my company or organization get involved?
Partners fund scholarships and cohorts, provide mentors and guest instructors, host site visits, sponsor capstone projects and award categories, and share internships and board openings. Partnership never purchases influence over participant selection.
Are donations tax-deductible?
Idaho Leaders is organized as a nonprofit, and our federal tax-exempt determination is in progress. We will confirm deductibility with you before you give \u2014 just ask.
Where does Idaho Leaders operate?
Statewide. Sessions are hybrid by design, and rural participation is a priority backed by travel scholarships \u2014 leadership in Idaho is not limited to its largest cities.
How do the Idaho Leadership Awards work?
Anyone may nominate an Idahoan \u2014 including themselves \u2014 for Emerging Leader, Excellence in Mentorship, or Community Leadership. A selection committee reviews nominations against published criteria, with recusal for conflicts of interest. Recognition is never influenced by donations or political affiliation.
